ANDY WARHOL, BOB COLACELLO - 1974 - Unique Work
The artwork by Andy Warhol, Bob Colacello depicts the American writer Bob Colacello who in 1970 wrote a review of Andy Warhol's film Trash, catching the artist's attention and providing him with the opportunity to start writing for Interview Magazine, the magazine founded by Warhol himself in those years.
This is a very important milestone in Warhol’s career since it was used by Warhol as a proof for his later Ladies & Gentlemen series, and in fact he never made a silkscreen of it. This work is made in a black and white on acetate. This support began to be used in cinematography during the 1920s to replace the highly flammable nitrate film. In Andy Warhol's creative process, the use of acetate was an important building block, preceding the screen print of the image.
Bob Colacello artwork measures 9.8x13.8 in and was made in 1974.
