Takashi Murakami - Maiko
Takashi Murakami's work “Maiko”, created in 2024, is a limited edition offset silkscreen print of 300 copies, each signed and numbered in original by the artist. Measuring 50×50 cm, this composition represents a unique fusion of Japanese tradition and the contemporary aesthetics of the Superflat movement.
The central figure is a maiko, a young geisha apprentice, depicted wearing a traditional blue kimono decorated with delicate cherry blossom motifs, recalling the ephemeral and symbolic beauty of Japanese culture. The red of the underkimono and the contrast with the blue create a harmonious color balance, enhancing the figure's sophistication. The careful details of traditional makeup and hairstyle highlight Murakami's respect for classical Japanese iconography.
The background, on the other hand, features stylized and playful elements: floating cherry blossoms, a torii (traditional portal), and a multi-level pagoda, symbols of Japan's cultural landscape. Alongside these traditional elements appear anthropomorphic hill figures, colored green and animated with eyes and smiles, on which Japanese letters are inscribed. These elements introduce a humorous and surreal tone, typical of Murakami's style, in which tradition is mixed with pop culture in a lively and ironic way.
The background, with a gold and silver checkerboard texture, adds a touch of brilliance and modernity, enhancing the two-dimensionality of the work in line with the Superflat aesthetic.

Andy Warhol was an American artist, film director and photographer, leading figure of Pop Art movement. Born in 1928 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania he changed the art world creating works inspired by Pop and mass culture. Among his masterpieces, Warhol depicted celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, but also everyday objects like the iconic Campbell’s
Soup, and he made experimental films like Empire.
From a stylistic point of view, he rejected the dominant painting and sculpting techniques and embraced silk-screen printmaking, creating his typical flat areas of color and sharp outlines.
With his New York studio, The Factory, Andy Warhol created a gathering place for artists, intellectuals and celebrities. The scope of his art had a strong influence on other artists such as Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Shipping costs and delivery time can vary depending on where we ship from. Some artworks need a special protective box to ensure that the work reaches its destination without damages. This may raise the shipping price, you will know the exact shipping price at the checkout.
- For shippings from the United States: from 49 $ to 1,300 $ depending on the final destination. The delivery time is 4-14 working days for United States, 7-20 working days for the rest of the world.
WHAT IF THE ARTWORK IS DAMAGED?
When you receive your artwork/s, first of all you should check that everything is alright, that the pack is not damaged or wet. Anyway, we advise you to accept with reserve.
If once you open the package the artwork is broken or damaged, you have to contact us within 24 hours from the delivery date, and send us pictures that prove the damage.
RETURNS AND REFUNDS
If you realize that you actually don’t like very much what you have bought, you can return any item purchased within 14 days from the delivery date.
Send us an emal to us@deodato.us, we will send you an email with a return form document. Without this document you can’t return any item. Then you have to carefully pack the artwork and send it to the address we will provide you.
Shipping costs and eventual damages (if the artwork is not insured) are on your charge. Once the artwork arrives we will refund you within 15 days from our final check of the artwork.
