KAWS - What Party (White)
Painted vinyl sculpture by KAWS, What Party (White) represents Chum, one of the artist's unmistakable "toys" in a yellow version.
The character is loosely based on Bibendum (known to most as "Michelin Man"), the mascot of the Michelin tyre company. KAWS' version has the same shapes as "Bib", except for the face, which has the X-eyes and crossbones of Companion, the artist's most iconic subject.
What Party (White) was made in 2020, measures 11.2x5.7x3.7 in. and is sold in its original packaging. It is part of a sold-out, non-numbered edition.
Chum and the exhibition KAWS What Party
Chum made his first appearance over 20 years ago and initially had only two postures: one with hands on his hips and chest puffed out, the other in mid-action running. Recently a new look for Chum has appeared, with slumped shoulders, hanging arms and head slightly turned downwards.
The new version of Chum was made for KAWS WHAT PARTY, an exhibition held in 2021 (February 26 -September 5) at the Brooklyn Museum.
The new Chum, more restrained and reflective, is an expression of the spirit of our times and depicts a world upturned by a global health crisis and socio-economic instability.
Among the other KAWS figurines, Companion is certainly the best known, followed by Accomplice, Bearbrick, Bendy and BFF.

Andy Warhol was an American artist, film director and photographer, leading figure of Pop Art movement. Born in 1928 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania he changed the art world creating works inspired by Pop and mass culture. Among his masterpieces, Warhol depicted celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, but also everyday objects like the iconic Campbell’s
Soup, and he made experimental films like Empire.
From a stylistic point of view, he rejected the dominant painting and sculpting techniques and embraced silk-screen printmaking, creating his typical flat areas of color and sharp outlines.
With his New York studio, The Factory, Andy Warhol created a gathering place for artists, intellectuals and celebrities. The scope of his art had a strong influence on other artists such as Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
We only deliver with insured courriers. The insurance is included in the shipping costs, and covers the entire value of the artwork. You will be insured from potential thefts and damages during the shipment.
Before accepting the pack, make sure to control that it is intact and dry.
SHIPPING COSTS AND DELIVERY TIME
Shipping costs and delivery time can vary depending on where we ship from. Some artworks need a special protective box to ensure that the work reaches its destination without damages. This may raise the shipping price, you will know the exact shipping price at the checkout.
- For shippings from the United States: from 49 $ to 1,300 $ depending on the final destination. The delivery time is 4-14 working days for United States, 7-20 working days for the rest of the world.
WHAT IF THE ARTWORK IS DAMAGED?
When you receive your artwork/s, first of all you should check that everything is alright, that the pack is not damaged or wet. Anyway, we advise you to accept with reserve.
If once you open the package the artwork is broken or damaged, you have to contact us within 24 hours from the delivery date, and send us pictures that prove the damage.
RETURNS AND REFUNDS
If you realize that you actually don’t like very much what you have bought, you can return any item purchased within 14 days from the delivery date.
Send us an emal to us@deodato.us, we will send you an email with a return form document. Without this document you can’t return any item. Then you have to carefully pack the artwork and send it to the address we will provide you.
Shipping costs and eventual damages (if the artwork is not insured) are on your charge. Once the artwork arrives we will refund you within 15 days from our final check of the artwork.
