Invader - Alert, System Infected (red)
Invader's work, Alert, System Infected (red) was made in a limited edition of 60 pieces and 5 AP.
The screenprint shows a composition made of small square tiles resembling a mosaic. Against a background made of black tiles stands out a shape that looks like a speech bubble from a cartoon or comic book. Inside the bubble is an alien composed of red tiles. The alien emits lines of energy that suggest it is talking or trying to communicate with other aliens.
The alien character depicted in Alert: System Infected (red) is inspired by the popular arcade game Space Invaders, created by Japanese video game maker Taito in 1978. Many of Invader's works, and the artist's pseudonym itself, were inspired by this game, and the use of mosaic tiles, reminiscent of the 8-bit visual register of arcade games, further demonstrates how much Invader was inspired by the arcade games he played as a child.
Invader identifies himself as an "Unidentified Free Artist", UFA for short. Playing on the acronym UFO (Unidentified Flying Object), extra-terrestrial life and space had a strong impact on Invader's work.
Alert, System Infected (red) measures 23.6x23.6 in. and is a screenprint on paper hand-signed and numbered.

Soup, and he made experimental films like Empire.
From a stylistic point of view, he rejected the dominant painting and sculpting techniques and embraced silk-screen printmaking, creating his typical flat areas of color and sharp outlines.
