David LaChapelle's work, The Superpower is a pigment print on Dibond made in a limited edition of 10 copies and 3 artist's proofs.
The photograph, taken at Cape Canaveral, features a bodybuilder surrounded by numerous children. The man, posing, stands above a pedestal depicting the American flag, while the children, in swimsuits that reference the colors of the flag, imitate him in poses while looking mostly toward the frame.
Looming in the background behind them is NASA's Kennedy Space Central, world-famous for initiating the Apollo Mission, the space program that led to the landing of the first men on the moon in 1969.
In this work, LaChapelle confronts us with the contradictions of American society, which, while it has accomplished great deeds remembered by humanity by counting itself as a world superpower, also sets toxic and unparalleled examples for new generations.
Inserting himself masterfully between the dreamlike and hyperrealist dimensions, LaChapelle makes a subtle social critique. The scene comes across as surreal to the viewer, dominated by bright and vivid hues, emphasizing the critical trend of modern society in which what matters is the showiness of gestures and what is in fashion at the moment.

Andy Warhol was an American artist, film director and photographer, leading figure of Pop Art movement. Born in 1928 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania he changed the art world creating works inspired by Pop and mass culture. Among his masterpieces, Warhol depicted celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, but also everyday objects like the iconic Campbell’s
Soup, and he made experimental films like Empire.
From a stylistic point of view, he rejected the dominant painting and sculpting techniques and embraced silk-screen printmaking, creating his typical flat areas of color and sharp outlines.
With his New York studio, The Factory, Andy Warhol created a gathering place for artists, intellectuals and celebrities. The scope of his art had a strong influence on other artists such as Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

SHIPPING COSTS AND DELIVERY TIME
Shipping costs and delivery time can vary depending on where we ship from. Some artworks need a special protective box to ensure that the work reaches its destination without damages. This may raise the shipping price, you will know the exact shipping price at the checkout.
- For shippings from the United States: from 49 $ to 1,300 $ depending on the final destination. The delivery time is 4-14 working days for United States, 7-20 working days for the rest of the world.
WHAT IF THE ARTWORK IS DAMAGED?
When you receive your artwork/s, first of all you should check that everything is alright, that the pack is not damaged or wet. Anyway, we advise you to accept with reserve.
If once you open the package the artwork is broken or damaged, you have to contact us within 24 hours from the delivery date, and send us pictures that prove the damage.
RETURNS AND REFUNDS
If you realize that you actually don’t like very much what you have bought, you can return any item purchased within 14 days from the delivery date.
Send us an emal to us@deodato.us, we will send you an email with a return form document. Without this document you can’t return any item. Then you have to carefully pack the artwork and send it to the address we will provide you.
Shipping costs and eventual damages (if the artwork is not insured) are on your charge. Once the artwork arrives we will refund you within 15 days from our final check of the artwork.
