Mr. Savethewall - L'arte contemporanea è davvero alla frutta? - Unique work on canvas - 2021
The artwork by Mr. Savethewall L'arte contemporanea è veramente alla frutta? represents an in-depth reflection of the artist on the recent work of art by Maurizio Cattelan Comedian.
The Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan artistically affixed with duct tape a banana to the wall of his stand at Art Basel Miami Beach, renowned international art fair.
Without being trivial, Mr. Savethewall, refers to the great artist Pablo Picasso, portraying him pointing a banana to his head as if it were a gun. The meaning appears anything but enlightening: in this masterpiece the street-artist wonders what a great artist like Picasso might think nowadays in front of Cattelan's work.
Art has overcome many controversies over the years and will certainly survive Cattelan's Banana. After all, Picasso himself said: "... it should not judge wrong what it does not know, it should take the opportunity to know."
Hence, Mr. Savethewall once again succeeds in his intention to go further and impress the public.
L'arte contemporanea è veramente alla frutta? is a unique piece, realized with mixed media on canvas. It is hand-signed by Mr. Savethewall and measures 40x30 in.
